Week 7 | 2012

I can’t believe I’m at week 7 of this project. It almost seems like its been an eternity already. Not wishing when is it going to end but how is it going to turn up. I want to make something clear before the weeks continue to add up. I photograph because I love the craft and I photograph for myself. Prime Lens Eyes Photography gives me another view, a prime view we can call it. Our eyes are like to two prime lenses, always active, always surveying, and always photographing. Also, I want it to clarify, that I don’t take a long time to write the narratives that go along with the imagery. These words are simply my own words as I type them…

Week 6 | 2012

Photographing daily, weekly, or in whatever time frame can be really thought provoking and at the same time frustrating. There are so many factors involved in shooting that every so often everything seems to go awry.   Disconnected Fragments Rain was the protagonist this week. Everyday was cloudy and the light simply was not the best. Well, not the best but at least it felt that way for me so inspiration was certainly very low on the radar.   A particular surprise came this week as well. An old friend called and wanted to know if I could take a couple of portraits in black and white to use as his main image for his law firm. To say, I was extremely humbled would…

Week 5 | 2012

I recently tweeted that when the inpiration strikes to act fast and I certainly think that applies to all photographers and as well as all creatives in general. Harnessing that intensity can sometimes be difficult but when you photograph for yourself and then share, then the ties that bind are so much stronger. Striking Inspiration Inherently, I’m attracted to photographer’s work that pulls my imagination through up & above. Being myself a photographer(well, at least I like to call myself that) then I can most of the time see how they arrived at such creativity and then be smitten, not only by their powerful imagery(and sometimes narrative) but also a keen sense of admiration as to how they arrive at such a final product.…

The Rebirth of Cool Have you ever felt invisible, on top of the world and just filled with creativity. Well, that’s exactly how I feel after having been without a photographic tool for about 10 days just observing and making imaginary shots. The images on this post all belong the Lumix LX3. I was so enchanted with this little jewel that I even decided to write my first ongoing user base experience review to chronicle my findings. I found the title of this week’s post very apropos — The Rebirth of Cool, as its exactly how I feel. Having had time off daily photographing and honing in the eye plus coupled with a tool that really acts as an extension of the eye is…

Metamorphosis & Finding oneself   So I purchased another book from the great folks at Craft & Vision titled “Close to Home” which really just reinforced all the things I’ve been thinking about as of late. To give you a brief synopsis of Close to Home I’ll allude to one of the quotes within the book which says: “To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”   – Elliot Erwitt

A Rite of Passage As I continue to “look and observe” through my photographic path the more I realize that opportunities are everywhere. At times, photographing becomes second nature and yet other times the creative machinery must be kicked started. Now I’m realizing you need some sort of stamina to photograph habitually. For me, I feel the urge to photograph most of the time but when coupled with a little something called “Life & Responsibilities” things get a little bit more complicated.

Construction High-res version

Quotidian Photography, seeing things differently

Well, I figured that a proper introduction is the right way to begin this project. My name is Jorge Ledesma and I consider myself an aficionado of this great craft called photography. Some of you may already know me from Flickr or perhaps Twitter. To you guys who have commented on my blog and my Flickr stream with great insights, constructive criticism, and just about anything in general – thank you, I’m truly humbled and appreciative of your time and kind words.
